Sherwood
Mutual Telephone Association was established February 2, 1906. Officers at that
time were Chairman: W.H. Miller; Treasurer: Fred Fraker; and Secretary: J.
Mitchell. They were elected to one-year terms.
Incorporated in 1935 as a
not-for-profit corporation, the company instituted it's "Constitution,
By-Laws, Rules and Regulations" (CB&R) under which the company is still
partially governed today.
Section 19 of the CB&R listed the
rates at that time for service:
(a) Party Line -
$2/month or $6 per quarter
(b) Private-residence Line -
$2.50/month or $7.50 per quarter
(c) Business Line -
$3/month or $9 per quarter
(d) Extension -
$0.50/month or $1.50 per quarter
(e) Re-establishment of suspended service
- $2
(f) Installation

(g) Re-location
$ 2.50/each
(Watch below for comparison of these
rates to 1998 rates)
New resolutions to the
Constitution,
By-Laws, Rules & Regulations were adopted at the Annual Shareholders
Meeting held March 12, 1990.
